Creating a space

Use the Meeds solution to welcome, support a community, or track a project, and share knowledge

Why create a space?

  • Exchange on a cross-cutting theme.

  • Support remote work and facilitate the sharing of thematic information.

  • Organize or track a project with a small circle of users.

How to create a space?

Go to your space directory to create your community.

You will be able to :

  • Name your community.

  • Describe its purpose.

  • Identify the visibility of the space in the directory.

  • Specify access arrangements: open, on validation, or closed.

  • Customize applications and illustrations.

  • Invite members and promote them as animators if necessary.

💡 Note : Space creation may be restricted. Contact your administrator if needed.

Space Templates

When you create a new space, think about the type of interactions you expect and choose the right template accordingly. With Meeds, you have access to Space Templates, which make creating spaces easier and more efficient.

We provide four default templates to cover most common needs, allowing you to pick one that fits your purpose and quickly get started. Here are the main types of templates you can use:

Communities

Ideal for groups that share a common interest or passion. These spaces foster broad participation and engagement.

  • Contribution Hub: Includes leaderboards and contribution programs to incentivize participation.

  • Activity Feed: Share posts, articles, Kudos, and engage in discussions.

  • Membership Approval: Admins can control who joins by requiring validation for new members.

💡 When to use: Use Community spaces for broad groups like hobby clubs or interest-based communities to promote open sharing and collaboration.

Projects

Perfect for focused teamwork on specific goals, like product launches or campaigns.

  • Tasks: Organize work items, assign them to members, and track progress.

  • Notes: Document key information like meeting notes, milestones, or project KPIs.

  • Invite Only: Control who can join the project, keeping focus and privacy.

💡 Tip: Projects are by default private. You can also activate a public page to share high-level updates without exposing internal details.

Announcements

For top-down communication, sharing important updates.

  • News Blocks: Highlight major updates with dedicated blocks on the homepage.

  • Interactive Feed: Members can react, comment, and engage.

  • Listed and Free to Join: Easy access for all interested members.

💡 Tip: Structure your announcement channels around specific topics. For instance, have different channels for product updates, token news, and governance.

Circles

Best for ad-hoc or informal collaboration with a small, select group.

  • Activity Feed: Central to share posts, articles, Kudos, and run polls.

  • Pinned Posts: Keep important information at the top of the feed.

  • Notes and Tasks: Capture key information and manage tasks collaboratively.

💡 When to use ?: Circles are great for small, private brainstorming sessions or temporary group work that requires flexibility.
